Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth-hormone-releasing factor, structurally GHRH(1–44) with a trans-3-hexenoyl group attached at the N-terminus. That modification protects the peptide from dipeptidyl peptidase-4 cleavage, the enzymatic step that limits native GHRH. It was developed by Theratechnologies, reviewed as an investigational drug in 2009, and is one of very few compounds in this catalog with an approved human indication — it was reviewed by the FDA and authorised in 2010 for a narrow, specific use. The material supplied here is a research chemical, not that approved product.
Characterised as a GHRH-receptor agonist at the anterior pituitary. Its distinguishing structural feature is N-terminal modification conferring resistance to DPP-4 degradation, which is what separates it pharmacologically from unmodified GHRH(1–44). The material supplied here is a research chemical and is not the approved pharmaceutical product, is not prescribed, and carries no approved indication in this form. GHRH analogs appear on the WADA Prohibited List.
